In MCF-7 breast cancer cells, Rh2 treatment leads to the hypermethylation of a CpG site within the promoter of the long noncoding RNA C3orf67‐AS1, resulting in reduced expression of this RNA. Importantly, the suppressed expression of C3orf67‐AS1 is reversible upon treatment with a methyltransferase inhibitor (5-aza-2), indicating that the regulation of this lncRNA is mediated through epigenetic mechanisms.
