In particular, one study (5) focused on the evolutionarily conserved, testis‐specific gene 4930524B15Rik (the mouse ortholog of human C5orf47) and demonstrated that its disruption in knockout mice perturbs normal spermatogenesis, implying a critical role in male fertility. In a separate study (6) examining neuromyelitis optica in a Finnish cohort, a missense variant in C5orf47 was identified among a small set of genetic alterations, suggesting that aberrations in C5orf47 may also be linked to rare immunological or neurological conditions, even though its precise mechanistic contribution in this context remains uncertain. Together, these observations indicate that C5orf47 may have a dual significance in reproductive biology as well as in pathophysiological processes affecting the immune or nervous systems.
