{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\n Recent investigations into the molecular drivers of adenoid cystic carcinoma have uncovered novel gene fusion events that implicate CASC20 in tumor biology (1). In one study employing targeted RNA‐sequencing for fusion detection, the NFIB–CASC20 fusion was identified among several novel fusion transcripts. Although the precise biological function of CASC20 remains to be fully elucidated, its participation as a fusion partner in an NFIB‐driven rearrangement suggests that CASC20 may contribute to oncogenic processes—either by perturbing regulatory networks or by altering the expression profiles of neighboring genes. This observation is consistent with emerging evidence that many long noncoding RNAs act as regulatory elements in diverse biological contexts (2). Further functional studies are needed to define whether the CASC20 component in this fusion event serves as a passive bystander or plays an active role in reprogramming gene expression to drive cancer progression."}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n "}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Eri Shibata, Kei-Ichi Morita, Kou Kayamori, et al.
