HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name cancer susceptibility candidate 21 (non-protein coding)
Summary
{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\n Emerging studies indicate that the long non‐coding RNA CASC21 plays an oncogenic role in colorectal cancer. CASC21 is significantly up‐regulated in colorectal and colon cancer tissues where its high expression correlates with advanced tumor-node-metastasis status. Functional studies show that CASC21 promotes cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and epithelial–mesenchymal transition while inhibiting apoptosis. Mechanistically, CASC21 acts as a competitive endogenous RNA by sponging miR-7-5p, which leads to increased expression of the oncogene YAP1, and it may also activate the WNT/β-catenin signaling pathway. Furthermore, CASC21 expression appears to be induced by FOXP1, reinforcing its role in driving colorectal cancer progression and highlighting its potential as a target for therapeutic intervention."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_fs", "start_ref": "1", "end_ref": "4"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n "}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Yuanwen Zheng, Peihua Nie, Shifeng Xu "}, {"type": "b", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Long noncoding RNA CASC21 exerts an oncogenic role in colorectal cancer through regulating miR-7-5p/YAP1 axis."}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " "}, {"type": "i", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Biomed Pharmacother (2020)"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " DOI: "}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "10.1016/j.biopha.2019.109628"}], "href": "https://doi.org/10.1016/j.biopha.2019.109628"}, {"type": "t", "text": " PMID: "}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "31731190"}], "href": "https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31731190"}]}, {"type": "r", "ref": 2, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Yan Gu, Xiaozeng Lin, Anil Kapoor, et al.
