In a study of infertile men with asthenozoospermia and terato-asthenozoospermia versus normozoospermic controls, a significant reduction in the expression levels of both CFAP44 and CFAP44-AS1 was observed. Moreover, the expression of CFAP44-AS1 was positively correlated with sperm motility and morphology, suggesting that the transcript may be critical for preserving the structure and function of sperm.
