ELDR is genomically located immediately downstream of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene on chromosome 7, in an orientation opposite to the receptor itself, a positioning that hints at potential cis‐regulatory functions. Expression analyses reveal that ELDR is highly expressed in neuronal stem cells, where it is linked to neuronal differentiation and brain development. In addition, its deregulation during the differentiation of stem cells into neurons—as observed in studies of human induced pluripotent stem cells—and evidence for its modulation by RNA‐binding proteins (such as HuR) indicate that ELDR is part of a broader lncRNA network critical for orchestrating neural cell fate transitions. Moreover, the upregulation of ELDR in head and neck cancer, together with supporting RNA‐sequencing data from multiple cancer types, suggests that this lncRNA may possess oncogenic properties and serve as a prognostic marker. In summary, ELDR appears to function as a developmental regulator in the nervous system while simultaneously contributing to oncogenic processes, highlighting its dual importance in both normal physiology and disease (1,2)"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n "}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " ."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Subhayan Sur, Ratna B Ray "}, {"type": "b", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Emerging role of lncRNA ELDR in development and cancer."}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " "}, {"type": "i", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "FEBS J (2022)"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " DOI: "}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "10.1111/febs.15876"}], "href": "https://doi.org/10.1111/febs.15876"}, {"type": "t", "text": " PMID: "}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "33860640"}], "href": "https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33860640"}]}, {"type": "r", "ref": 2, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Stephana Carelli, Toniella Giallongo, Federica Rey, et al.
