| Summary |
{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\n IFNA17 is one member of the type I interferon family that serves as a potent antiviral cytokine and an important immunomodulator. Once pathogen‐recognition receptors such as Toll‐like receptors and cytosolic DNA/RNA sensors are engaged during viral or microbial challenge, signaling cascades lead to the activation of transcription factors (including IRF3, IRF5, and IRF7) that promote the expression of IFNA gene subtypes, among which IFNA17 contributes to the overall antiviral response. Binding of IFNA17 to the common interferon‐α/β receptor triggers the transcription of interferon‐stimulated genes designed to inhibit viral replication and modulate adaptive immunity. In addition, regulatory mechanisms—including post‐translational modifications of key transcription factors and feedback from other innate immune signaling pathways—ensure that IFNA17 production remains tightly controlled, balancing effective host defense with protection against excessive inflammation. Alterations in this tightly regulated network are implicated in autoimmune conditions and may affect responses to immunotherapeutic strategies. Collectively, these findings highlight the critical role of IFNA17 in orchestrating early antiviral defenses and maintaining immune homeostasis."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_fs", "start_ref": "1", "end_ref": "4"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n "}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "José M González-Navajas, Jongdae Lee, Michael David, et al.
