IL21R-AS1 Gene

Name IL21R antisense RNA 1
Summary
{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\n Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have emerged as key regulators of diverse biological processes including immune responses, inflammation, and vascular homeostasis. Studies have shown that various lncRNAs—often acting as antisense transcripts that modulate the expression of nearby protein‐coding genes—are differentially expressed in conditions such as fungal infections, autoimmune diseases, and vascular disorders (1, 2, 3). In the context of coronary artery disease (CAD), one study identified several lncRNAs as candidate circulating biomarkers, among which IL21R‐AS1 was found to be differentially expressed in peripheral blood monocytes and plasma from CAD patients (4). Although the precise molecular mechanism of IL21R‐AS1 remains to be fully elucidated, its association with disease status suggests that it may have a role in regulating immune and inflammatory pathways—possibly by influencing the expression of its sense partner, the IL21 receptor gene—and that it holds potential as a non‐invasive biomarker for CAD. Future studies will be needed to determine its functional contributions and to assess its utility in diagnostic or therapeutic applications."}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n "}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_fs", "start_ref": "1", "end_ref": "4"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Konstantin Riege, Martin Hölzer, Tilman E Klassert, et al.
