LHFPL3-AS2 Gene

Name LHFPL3 antisense RNA 2
Summary
{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\n LHFPL3-AS2 is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) that has emerged as a potentially important tumor suppressor in lung cancer. In non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), LHFPL3-AS2 is significantly downregulated in tumor tissues compared to adjacent normal tissues, and its low expression is strongly correlated with advanced TNM stage, metastasis, and poor overall survival. Mechanistically, enhanced expression of LHFPL3-AS2 impedes NSCLC invasion and metastasis in vitro and in vivo. At least one study revealed that LHFPL3-AS2 exerts its tumor-suppressive effects by binding to the splicing factor SFPQ, thereby reducing SFPQ’s interaction with the promoter of TXNIP, leading to the transcriptional repression of TXNIP and ultimately influencing the migratory and invasive behavior of NSCLC cells. Interestingly, the expression of LHFPL3-AS2 was found to be regulated by EGR1 under hypoxic conditions."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n "}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n "}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\n In parallel, comprehensive transcriptome analyses in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) have identified LHFPL3-AS2 as one of several lncRNAs with prognostic potential. Integrated studies using large-scale RNA sequencing and bioinformatic approaches have demonstrated that decreased levels of LHFPL3-AS2 are associated with unfavorable overall and recurrence-free survival in patients with lung adenocarcinoma, underscoring its potential value as a biomarker for early diagnosis, prognosis, and potentially even for targeted therapy"}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "and."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "3"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n "}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n "}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\n In addition, genome-scale differential expression studies in other cancer types, such as gastric cancer, have cataloged LHFPL3-AS2 among a wide array of lncRNAs that might be exploited for directed therapy using bioactive peptides and chemotherapy drugs, further highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target across diverse malignancies."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "4"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n "}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n "}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\n Together, these studies suggest that LHFPL3-AS2 plays a multifaceted role in tumorigenesis, particularly in lung cancer, and positions it as a promising biomarker and target for future therapeutic interventions.\n "}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Zhuoan Cheng, Chunlai Lu, Hui Wang, et al.
