Its expression is significantly increased in NSCLC tissues where high levels of LINC00243 correlate with poor patient prognosis. Functional studies have demonstrated that LINC00243 promotes NSCLC cell proliferation and glycolysis. Mechanistically, it acts as a molecular sponge for microRNA‑507 (miR‑507), thereby relieving the inhibitory effects of miR‑507 on its target gene, pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase 4 (PDK4). The subsequent upregulation of PDK4 fosters enhanced glycolytic metabolism and cellular growth.
