In a comprehensive study that compared expression profiles between solid tumor tissues and adjacent non-tumor tissues (1), a panel of long noncoding RNAs was identified as potentially pivotal in modulating HCC progression. Among these, LINC01493 has emerged as a candidate of interest due to its differential expression in tumor versus normal tissues. The data suggest that LINC01493 may influence key cellular processes including proliferation, invasiveness, and metastatic dissemination by acting as a regulatory element in gene expression pathways. Its altered expression profile not only positions LINC01493 as a potential biomarker for tumor aggressiveness but also underscores its promise as a therapeutic target for disrupting the proliferation pathways that drive HCC progression.
