LINC01553 Gene

Name long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1553
Summary
{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\n In a study of cryptorchidism—a common endocrine disorder in boys linked to infertility and an increased risk of testicular cancer—it was shown that treatment with a gonadotropin releasing hormone agonist (GnRHa) not only corrects testicular position through orchidopexy but also restores key testicular functions that are absent due to an impaired mini‐puberty. Analysis of testicular biopsies from boys with bilateral cryptorchidism revealed that GnRHa treatment modulates the expression of several long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs), which are known to interact with chromatin‐modifying enzymes to exert epigenetic control over gene transcription. Among these lncRNAs, LINC01553 is implicated as a potential mediator of the epigenetic processes that promote the differentiation of Ad spermatogonia, a critical event of mini‐puberty that is required for normal testicular development and future fertility. These findings suggest that LINC01553 may play a central role in orchestrating the epigenetic landscape necessary for spermatogonial differentiation following hormonal treatment, thereby offering novel molecular insights into how GnRHa facilitates testicular maturation in affected boys."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n "}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Faruk Hadziselimovic, Gilvydas Verkauskas, Beata Vincel, et al.
