| Name | microRNA 1302-9 |
| Description | microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009] |

Although the provided abstract (27956701) does not directly mention MIR1302-9, insights from the investigation into Pf1-deficient mouse embryonic fibroblasts suggest that factors interacting with chromatin complexes may influence these processes. Specifically, loss of Pf1 led to impaired cell proliferation, abnormal nucleolar architecture, increased markers of cellular senescence, and activation of a DNA damage response, thereby underscoring the importance of proper regulation of ribosome assembly and genomic stability."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\nConsidering that microRNAs are frequently involved in fine-tuning gene expression and modulating chromatin dynamics, MIR1302-9 could be envisioned as a regulatory RNA molecule that acts within this framework. By potentially targeting key transcripts or chromatin-associated factors, MIR1302-9 might contribute to the control of ribosome biogenesis and cellular senescence pathways—a hypothesis that is consistent with the broader impact of Pf1 and its associated proteins on these critical cellular processes."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\nCollectively, the data imply that the Pf1-associated chromatin complex is central to maintaining normal ribosomal function and cell cycle progression, and they raise the possibility that MIR1302-9 may serve as an additional layer of regulatory control within these pathways. Future studies addressing the mechanistic role of MIR1302-9 will be important in clarifying its contribution to epigenetic regulation, ribosome assembly, and the prevention of premature senescence in cellular systems."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Richard Graveline, Katarzyna Marcinkiewicz, Seyun Choi, et al.
