| HGNC Family | Non-coding RNAs |
| Name | microRNA 1324 |
| Description | microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009] |

In Hirschsprung disease, for instance, circ‐PRKCI was found to function as a molecular sponge for miR‑1324, leading to the upregulation of PLCB1. This interaction consequently promoted cell proliferation and migration, suggesting that the miR‑1324/PLCB1 axis is important in modulating neural crest‐derived cell behavior during disease pathogenesis."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nAdditionally, investigations into gastric cancer have aimed to elucidate the expression levels and potential molecular mechanisms of miR‑1324. Although the detailed downstream targets remain to be fully clarified, the altered levels of miR‑1324 in gastric cancer tissues imply that this microRNA may serve as a promising biomarker and therapeutic target, offering new insights into tumorigenesis and treatment strategies."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn the context of prostate cancer, particularly castration‑resistant prostate cancer (CRPC), another circRNA—hsa_circ_0001610—has been identified as exerting its oncogenic effects by sponging miR‑1324. By sequestering miR‑1324, hsa_circ_0001610 relieves the repressive effect of miR‑1324 on its target gene PTK6, thereby enhancing PTK6 expression.
