| HGNC Family | Non-coding RNAs |
| Name | microRNA 1471 |
| Description | microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009] |

This downregulation correlates with advanced TNM staging and poor overall patient survival, highlighting its potential role as a tumor suppressor. Functional assays revealed that overexpression of MIR1471 results in reduced cell proliferative capacity and induces G1/S phase cell cycle arrest, suggesting that it plays a critical role in maintaining normal cellular proliferation dynamics."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n \nFurther investigation into its molecular mechanism uncovered FOXL1 mRNA as a direct target of MIR1471. By binding to FOXL1, MIR1471 effectively inhibits its translation, thereby exerting opposing effects on the proliferation and cell cycle progression of NSCLC cells. Collectively, these findings position MIR1471 as not only a functional regulator of tumor cell behavior but also a promising prognostic biomarker and potential therapeutic target in NSCLC."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Xin Liu, Tong Zhao, Xue Bai, et al.
