MIR2467 Gene

HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name microRNA 2467
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]
Summary
{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nmiR‐2467 plays a tumor‐suppressive role in several human cancers by regulating key oncogenic pathways. In colorectal cancer, for instance, miR‐2467‑3p normally restrains the expression of matrix metalloproteinase 14 (MMP14), a pivotal mediator of cellular invasion and epithelial–mesenchymal transition. However, overexpressed circular RNA hsa_circ_0053277 acts as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) by sponging miR‐2467‑3p, which leads to upregulation of MMP14 and consequent enhancement of cell proliferation and migration."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn epithelial ovarian carcinoma, a similar mechanism is observed where the long noncoding RNA SNHG22 physically interacts with miR‐2467. This interaction releases miR‐2467’s target Gal‐1 mRNA from repression, thereby promoting chemo‐resistance through the activation of the PI3K/AKT and ERK cascades. These findings suggest that, under normal conditions, miR‐2467 contributes to the maintenance of cellular sensitivity to chemotherapeutic agents by keeping oncogenic signals in check."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nFurthermore, in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), miR‐2467 is similarly targeted by oncogenic sponges. Both a circular RNA, circ_0074027, and the long noncoding RNA LINC01224 sequester miR‐2467, leading to the derepression of oncogenes such as RHOA. This aberration promotes NSCLC cell proliferation, invasion, and resistance to cisplatin. In addition, altered serum levels of miR‐2467 have been reported in gestational diabetes mellitus, underscoring its potential utility as a clinical biomarker."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_fs", "start_ref": "3", "end_ref": "5"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Hongqi Xiao, Ming Liu "}, {"type": "b", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Circular RNA hsa_circ_0053277 promotes the development of colorectal cancer by upregulating matrix metallopeptidase 14 via miR-2467-3p sequestration."}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " "}, {"type": "i", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "J Cell Physiol (2020)"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " DOI: "}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "10.1002/jcp.29193"}], "href": "https://doi.org/10.1002/jcp.29193"}, {"type": "t", "text": " PMID: "}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "31549406"}], "href": "https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31549406"}]}, {"type": "r", "ref": 2, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Peng-Fei Zhang, Jing Wu, Jin-Hong Luo, et al.
