| HGNC Family | Non-coding RNAs |
| Name | microRNA 3130-2 |
| Description | microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009] |

The study assessed how LINC01096 influences key cellular processes such as viability, apoptosis, migration, and invasion, suggesting that LINC01096 may modulate TNBC progression by interacting with miR‑3130‑3p, although the precise downstream targets of miR‑3130‑3p in this context remain to be fully elucidated."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "In prostate cancer (PCa), a complementary study demonstrated that the long noncoding RNA FOXP4‐AS1 acts as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) to sequester miR‑3130‑3p. This sponging action relieves the inhibitory effect of miR‑3130‑3p on the transcription factor SP4, thereby promoting cell proliferation and tumor growth. In an intriguing feedback loop, SP4 was further shown to activate FOXP4‐AS1 transcription, underlining the role of miR‑3130‑3p as a negative regulator in PCa tumorigenesis."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "Collectively, these studies underscore the context‐dependent tumor suppressor function of miR‑3130‑3p. In TNBC, its interaction with LINC01096 suggests a potential role in regulating malignancy‐associated cellular behaviors, while in PCa, miR‑3130‑3p’s suppression of SP4 is counteracted by FOXP4‑AS1, thereby facilitating tumor progression.
