| Name | microRNA 3182 |
| Description | microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009] |

Many studies here detail how the generation, expansion, and function of CD4⁺ regulatory T cells (Tregs) and helper T cell populations are exquisitely controlled by extracellular cytokine cues (such as IL‑2, TGF‑β, and IFN‑γ), transcription factors, chromatin remodeling complexes, and post‐transcriptional regulatory processes. Given that loss of miRNA processing (for example, in Dicer‐deficient models) disrupts Treg‐mediated tolerance, it is plausible by analogy that individual microRNAs—including MIR3182—could fine‐tune key signaling pathways required for T cell development and immune homeostasis."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_fs", "start_ref": "1", "end_ref": "17"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nMany of these reports emphasize the precise regulation of T cell lineage commitment, activation, and suppression via interplay between surface receptors and intracellular factors. They describe how epigenetic mechanisms—ranging from silencer and enhancer functions to chromatin remodelers like Mi‑2β—and the balance of costimulatory versus inhibitory signals underlie proper CD4 expression and Treg function. In this complex regulatory network, post‐transcriptional modulation by microRNAs is emerging as a critical determinant of cellular fate. By extension, although not explicitly examined in these studies, MIR3182 may act to modulate the stability or translation of mRNAs that encode proteins essential for T cell receptor signaling, Treg suppressive capacity, or the maintenance of immune tolerance."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_fs", "start_ref": "18", "end_ref": "33"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nAdditional integrative analyses accentuate the role of the miRNA processing machinery in securing immune tolerance. Data from Dicer‐deficient mouse models, for instance, have underscored that the absence of mature microRNAs critically impairs the suppressive function of natural CD4⁺Foxp3⁺ regulatory T cells.
