| Name | microRNA 3686 |
| Description | microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009] |

Elevated expression of MIR3686 in the immortalized pancreas cell line HPDE6C7 is associated with a corresponding reduction in PLK1 levels relative to the pancreas carcinoma-derived PANC1 cell line. Functional assays reveal that restoration of MIR3686 in PANC1 cells not only downregulates PLK1 expression but also leads to inhibition of cell proliferation, induction of apoptosis, and suppression of both cell invasion and clonogenic survival. Conversely, inhibiting MIR3686 in HPDE6C7 cells enhances proliferative and invasive capabilities, reinforcing its role as a pivotal negative regulator of PLK1 and highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target in pancreatic cancer treatment."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Hong-Yi Jin, Xin-Guang Qiu, Bo Yang "}, {"type": "b", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "The MicroRNA3686 Inhibits the Proliferation of Pancreas Carcinoma Cell Line by Targeting the Polo-Like Kinase 1."}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " "}, {"type": "i", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Biomed Res Int (2015)"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " DOI: "}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "10.1155/2015/954870"}], "href": "https://doi.org/10.1155/2015/954870"}, {"type": "t", "text": " PMID: "}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "26090465"}], "href": "https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26090465"}]}]}]}
