MIR3935 Gene

HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name microRNA 3935
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nRecent investigations have revealed that MIR3935 is significantly down-regulated in placental tissues from patients with preeclampsia, a condition linked to the insufficient trophoblast epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) required for proper migration and invasion. This alteration in expression suggests that under normal conditions, MIR3935 may play a role in promoting the invasive properties and proper differentiation of trophoblast cells, thereby contributing to healthy placental development. However, the precise molecular mechanisms by which MIR3935 influences these processes remain to be defined."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn parallel with these findings in preeclampsia, studies focusing on other non-coding RNA molecules, such as the long non-coding RNA LINC00992, have implicated these regulatory RNAs in critical cellular functions during tumor progression. Although LINC00992 has been linked to cancer progression in several contexts, including prostate cancer, its functional characterization is still in its early stages. The emerging insights into the diverse roles of non-coding RNAs underscore the potential significance of MIR3935 as part of a broader network of RNA-mediated regulatory pathways that may also impact disease states beyond preeclampsia."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nCollectively, these observations highlight the need for further investigation into MIR3935's biological functions. Understanding its contribution to trophoblast EMT and placental development, as well as its possible interplay with other non-coding RNAs in pathological conditions such as cancer, could open new avenues for therapeutic intervention. Future studies aimed at delineating the molecular mechanisms underlying MIR3935 activity are therefore essential to fully exploit its potential as a biomarker or therapeutic target in complex disorders."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Meiyuan Jin, Shouying Xu, Jiayong Li, et al.
