| HGNC Family | Non-coding RNAs |
| Name | microRNA 4314 |
| Description | microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009] |

Instead, these studies focus extensively on the functions of the deubiquitinating enzyme USP9X and its interactors in diverse biological processes, ranging from tumor suppression, autophagy, and immune regulation to neural development, stem cell maintenance, and metabolic signaling. In essence, while MIR4314 is not discussed, the literature offers a rich tapestry of regulatory mechanisms that may eventually inform future studies on microRNAs in similar pathways."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_fs", "start_ref": "1", "end_ref": "5"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nMultiple studies document USP9X’s roles in regulating key cellular signaling pathways: one set of abstracts illustrates its contribution to pancreatic tumorigenesis and the protective form of selective autophagy (termed “zymophagy”) in pancreatitis, while others detail its regulation of oncogenic transcription factors in prostate cancer, its impact on intestinal regeneration through stabilization of tumor suppressors, and its critical roles in neural progenitor polarization and brain development. In parallel, USP9X is shown to modulate T-cell receptor signaling, influence mTOR complex activity in muscle differentiation and neural stem cell proliferation, and govern protein stability in processes important for synaptic development and immune homeostasis."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_fs", "start_ref": "6", "end_ref": "12"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nAdditional abstracts expand on USP9X’s involvement in orchestrating cellular homeostasis and tissue development by regulating deubiquitination of key substrates in processes such as neural connectivity, germ cell maintenance, hepatic immune responses, and embryonic stem cell fate decisions. Significantly, these studies demonstrate that USP9X modulates a variety of downstream targets—including factors in the mTOR, NF-κB, and Polycomb repressive complex 2 pathways—as well as interacting with proteins crucial for cell polarity and synaptic organization. Collectively, while the detailed mechanistic insights provided into USP9X (and its substrates) underscore its central role in multiple physiological and pathophysiological contexts, none of the collected literature addresses or implicates MIR4314.
