MIR4483 Gene

HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name microRNA 4483
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nRecent studies have begun to implicate MIR4483 as a regulatory microRNA in pathways that intersect with those governed by proteins involved in renal ciliopathy and vascular remodeling. For example, in murine inner medullary collecting duct cells, depletion of ANKS3 triggered widespread metabolic disturbances—including disruptions in amino acid, purine/pyrimidine, and tryptophan-niacin pathways—and activated DNA damage responses. Although MIR4483 is not directly mentioned in that study, such metabolic and repair pathways are typical targets of microRNA regulation, suggesting that MIR4483 may modulate similar networks in kidney cells."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nFurther insights into the cellular roles of ANKS3 come from work demonstrating its function in protein interaction networks that control cell cycle progression and intracellular localization signals. Studies showed that ANKS3 interacts with kinases such as Nek7, where its modification mediates the retention of Nek7 in the cytoplasm, potentially affecting downstream signaling involved in apoptosis and proliferation. Given the common microRNA involvement in fine-tuning such signaling cascades, MIR4483 might similarly act to adjust these protein–protein interaction networks, thereby influencing cellular processes that are vital for maintaining tissue architecture and function."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nExpanding the functional perspective beyond the kidney, research into nephronophthisis and polycystic kidney disease emphasized the importance of ANKS3–ANKS6 interactions in ciliogenesis, transcriptional regulation of vasopressin-induced genes, and pathways controlling apoptosis and cell proliferation. In parallel, an independent study aiming to elucidate the role of microRNAs in cerebral aneurysm formation raises the possibility that MIR4483 may contribute to vascular remodeling and endothelial integrity by targeting transcripts involved in ciliary structure and fluid balance. Together, these investigations indicate that MIR4483 could serve as an integrative modulator—linking metabolic homeostasis, DNA damage responses, and key cellular signaling cascades in both renal and vascular tissues."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "3"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Manuel Schlimpert, Simon Lagies, Vadym Budnyk, et al.
