| HGNC Family | Non-coding RNAs |
| Name | microRNA 4522 |
| Description | microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009] |

{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nTEAD4 is a pivotal transcription factor that orchestrates early cell‐fate decisions in mammalian embryos. During preimplantation development, TEAD4 regulates the specification of the trophectoderm by activating lineage‐specific gene programs and ensuring proper blastocoel formation. In doing so, it integrates signals from upstream regulators – including AP‐2γ, RhoA, and other Hippo pathway components – to demarcate the extraembryonic fate from the inner cell mass and to mitigate oxidative stress associated with increased mitochondrial activity. These studies demonstrate that, by controlling transcriptional programs, TEAD4 is essential for proper early embryogenesis and energy homeostasis."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_fs", "start_ref": "1", "end_ref": "10"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn differentiating tissues, TEAD4 operates within a complex network of transcriptional regulators and co‐activators—including YAP1/TAZ, VGLL proteins, and related factors—to modulate cellular processes such as myogenic differentiation, vascular development, and osteoclastogenesis. It governs gene expression programs that balance proliferation with differentiation and even influences mitochondrial function by facilitating oxidative phosphorylation. Moreover, TEAD4 function is modulated by epigenetic regulators and by its interaction with other transcription factors (for example, AP‐1 and RTEF‐1), thereby tuning cell‐internal signaling pathways in diverse contexts."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_fs", "start_ref": "11", "end_ref": "24"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nFurther, TEAD4 contributes to later developmental processes and tissue‐specific functions by helping establish cellular polarity and refining gene expression networks during organogenesis.
