| Name | microRNA 4633 |
| Description | microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009] |

In this context, MIR4633 has emerged as a putative regulator, with preliminary findings suggesting its altered expression may be linked to the metastatic behavior of SMM. Given that a subset of patients shows prolonged survival without metastasis, differential MIR4633 expression may reflect underlying biological variability that distinguishes aggressive tumors from less invasive ones."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nMIR4633, like other microRNAs, is thought to modulate gene expression postâtranscriptionally, potentially impacting multiple pathways involved in tumor progression. Its dysregulation could influence cellular processes such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, and migration. Therefore, investigating MIR4633 not only deepens our molecular understanding of SMM but also holds promise for identifying novel prognostic biomarkers that distinguish rapidly metastatic cases from those with a more favorable clinical outcome."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nOverall, while definitive functional characterization requires further study, current evidence positions MIR4633 as a candidate molecular marker that may help predict metastatic potential in SMM.
