MIR4642 Gene

HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name microRNA 4642
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nThe study explores the regulation of tumor cell plasticity in lung adenocarcinoma, focusing on the role of CRACD—a capping protein inhibitor that, when knocked out, de-represses neuroendocrine (NE) gene expression. Loss of CRACD leads to increased intratumoral heterogeneity, enhanced cell de‐differentiation, and activation of stemness-related pathways, which together contribute to therapy resistance. These findings underscore the importance of actin cytoskeleton remodeling in maintaining cellular identity and preventing the emergence of NE-like cell states in lung tumors."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIt is important to note that while the abstract details mechanisms controlling cell plasticity via CRACD loss and actin dynamics, it does not explicitly mention or characterize MIR4642. Although microRNAs often participate in regulatory networks that influence cell differentiation and plasticity, any specific function for MIR4642 is not addressed within the study. Therefore, based on this abstract alone, the direct role or impact of MIR4642 remains undetermined."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Bongjun Kim, Shengzhe Zhang, Yuanjian Huang, et al.
