| HGNC Family | Non-coding RNAs |
| Name | microRNA 4646 |
| Description | microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009] |

For example, one study demonstrates that in wild‐type testis, PP1γ2 forms an inactive complex with actin, PPP1R7, and the potent inhibitor PPP1R11, suggesting that this interaction prevents PPP1R11 proteolysis and consequently, germ cell apoptosis; conversely, altered levels of PP1γ2 in various genetic contexts correlate with changes in PPP1R11 and mature sperm production."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " In another investigation, PPP1R11 is identified as a RING finger E3 ligase that ubiquitinates TLR2, thereby promoting its degradation and modulating inflammation in response to gram‐positive bacteria."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " Further studies have detailed the testis‐specific expression and dynamic association of PP1 inhibitors (PPP1R2, PPP1R7, and PPP1R11) during sperm maturation, as well as the cellular localization of Tctex5—a protein functionally analogous to PPP1R11—in spermatogenic and somatic cells"}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "3"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ";."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "4"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " \n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nNotably, despite the inquiry regarding the function of MIR4646, none of the abstracts provided mention or address MIR4646.
