| HGNC Family | Non-coding RNAs |
| Name | microRNA 4669 |
| Description | microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009] |

In a genetic association study of ischemic stroke, a particular single‐nucleotide polymorphism in the miR-4669 precursor (rs35196866) was significantly associated with increased susceptibility to the condition, suggesting that variations in miR-4669 may influence vascular pathology and potentially modulate cellular responses in ischemic injury."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn hepatocellular carcinoma, miR-4669 has emerged as an important factor in tumor aggressiveness and recurrence. Functional characterization in Hep3B cells demonstrated that overexpression of miR-4669 enhances cellular migration and confers resistance to sorafenib, concomitant with elevated sirtuin 1 levels and increased expression of a long noncoding RNA associated with microvascular invasion. Moreover, miR-4669 actively promotes the release of tumor-derived exosomes and glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH), thereby fostering an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment through the induction of M2 macrophage polarization. These multifaceted roles underscore the potential of miR-4669 both as a predictive biomarker for treatment response and as a target for interventions aimed at reducing post-transplant HCC recurrence."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Seoung-Jin Hong, Su Kang Kim, Dong Hwan Yun, et al.
