| HGNC Family | Non-coding RNAs |
| Name | microRNA 4679-2 |
| Description | microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009] |

In these studies, attention is focused on DPF3 and its long non‐coding RNA variant (lnc-Dpf3), which—like MIR4679-2 as a non-coding RNA—may be implicated in fine-tuning gene expression and cellular dynamics."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn the first study, stimulation of the CCR7 chemokine receptor in dendritic cells induced a rapid migratory response toward draining lymph nodes. This response is tempered by a feedback mechanism mediated by a long non-coding RNA, lnc-Dpf3, whose expression is upregulated following CCR7 stimulation. lnc-Dpf3 binds directly to the transcription factor HIF-1α and suppresses transcription of the glycolytic gene Ldha, thereby reducing glycolytic metabolism and ultimately restraining dendritic cell migration. This checkpoint ensures that immune activation and inflammatory responses remain tightly controlled."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nThe remaining studies shift focus to DPF3’s role as an epigenetic regulator. One investigation identifies DPF3 as a novel component of the BAF chromatin remodeling complex that reads both methylated and acetylated lysine residues on histones, thus anchoring tissue-specific transcriptional programs critical for heart and muscle development. Another study elucidates an HRP2-DPF3a-BAF pathway that couples histone H3K36 methylation with chromatin remodeling to control the transcription of myogenic genes by enhancing chromatin accessibility during muscle differentiation. Together, these findings underscore how non-coding and epigenetic factors such as DPF3 variants orchestrate intricate gene regulatory networks in diverse biological contexts."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}]}]}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Juan Liu, Xiaomin Zhang, Kun Chen, et al.
