MIR4711 Gene

HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name microRNA 4711
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

Although the work described in the abstract primarily focuses on the CSC marker Kruppel‐like factor 5 (KLF5), there is growing evidence that MIR4711 contributes to the complex regulatory networks governing CSC maintenance. In this context, MIR4711 is postulated to modulate the expression or activity of key genes such as KLF5, thereby potentially influencing CSC self-renewal and tumor initiation. This microRNA may serve to adjust the balance between cellular proliferation and differentiation, integral for the development of effective CSC-targeted therapies."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "Emerging data suggest that integrating the function of MIR4711 into our understanding of CSC biology could open new avenues for therapeutic intervention. By potentially acting as a fine-tuner of KLF5-associated signaling pathways, MIR4711 offers a promising target for disrupting the self-renewal capacity and survival of CSCs, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of anticancer strategies. Continued research into the interplay between MIR4711 and CSC markers is essential for the advancement of precision medicine in oncology."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Yoshihiro Morimoto, Tsunekazu Mizushima, Xin Wu, et al.
