MIR4713 Gene

HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name microRNA 4713
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

In adipose tissue samples obtained from children with obesity, miR-4713 was found to be significantly downregulated compared to non‐obese controls, suggesting that its reduced expression may influence the dysregulation of neuropeptide signaling that is characteristic of obesity."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nThe study constructed a regulatory network centered around the neuropeptide receptor NPY1R, in which transcription factors, including TCF4 and HEY1, were shown to positively correlate with NPY1R expression through their influence on miR-4713. In contrast, the transcription factor GATA3 demonstrated an inverse relationship by affecting miR-452. The coordinated regulation via these pathways emphasizes the role of miR-4713 in modulating the expression of key regulatory genes within the network, potentially impacting downstream effects associated with obesity."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nClinically, the reduced levels of miR-4713, along with altered expression of related transcription factors and miR-452, suggest that miR-4713 may serve as an important risk factor, not only for the development of obesity but also for increased fracture susceptibility in obese children. These findings provide new insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying childhood obesity and associated complications, and highlight miR-4713 as a potential target for therapeutic intervention."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Xiaoyan Feng, Ye Ding, Min Zhou, et al.
