MIR4716 Gene

HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name microRNA 4716
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nRecent studies have demonstrated that CLEC12B is a C‐type lectin receptor with a highly specific expression pattern in skin mast cells. Using a novel monoclonal antibody, researchers found that CLEC12B is exclusively expressed on mast cells in the skin of both mice and humans, suggesting that it plays a specialized role in regulating mast cell activation and cutaneous immune responses. This restricted expression pattern implicates CLEC12B as an important regulator in allergic responses and host defense mechanisms within the skin."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nAdditional research has extended the functional profile of CLEC12B by uncovering its role as a pattern recognition receptor in innate immunity. Binding studies revealed that CLEC12B recognizes specific carbohydrate moieties—including β-(1,3)-glucans and N-acetylglucosamine residues—present in the cell walls of Pneumocystis species. Functional analyses using siRNA-mediated silencing showed that inhibition of CLEC12B leads to a significant reduction in TNF-α production by macrophages in response to Pneumocystis stimuli, thereby highlighting its contributory role in the pro-inflammatory signaling cascade during infection."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nCollectively, the findings from these studies indicate that CLEC12B functions as an immunomodulatory receptor with dual roles: it regulates mast cell activation in the skin and mediates the innate inflammatory response to fungal pathogens. Although the query mentioned MIR4716, the abstracts consistently focus on CLEC12B, revealing its importance in both cutaneous immune homeostasis and pathogen recognition. Further research employing CLEC12B-deficient models will be essential to fully delineate the receptor’s signaling pathways and its potential as a therapeutic target in immune-mediated disorders."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Ayana Iijima, Kazumasa Kanemaru, Yaqiu Wang, et al.
