| HGNC Family | Non-coding RNAs |
| Name | microRNA 4730 |
| Description | microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009] |

In this context, screening efforts have focused on identifying differentially expressed microRNAs, with miR‐4730 emerging as a candidate marker whose expression profile may provide insights into early detection and clinical outcomes in one of the most aggressive gastrointestinal tumors."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\nIn liver cancer, miR‐4730 has been shown to act as a tumor suppressor. Studies revealed that its expression is significantly suppressed in tumor tissues and cell lines. Functionally, overexpression of miR‐4730 inhibited cell proliferation, impeded cell cycle progression, and promoted apoptosis. Mechanistic analyses demonstrated that miR‐4730 directly targets high mobility group A1 (HMGA1), leading to the inhibition of the integrin-linked kinase (ILK)/Akt/glycogen synthase kinase‑3β (GSK3β) pathway. Notably, lower miR‐4730 expression levels were associated with poorer recurrence-free survival, underscoring its potential utility both as a prognostic marker and as a therapeutic target in liver cancer."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "W Yang, H-Y Ju, X-F Tian "}, {"type": "b", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Hsa-miR-4730 as a new and potential diagnostic and prognostic indicators for pancreatic cancer."}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " "}, {"type": "i", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci (2020)"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " DOI: "}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "10.26355/eurrev_202009_22819"}], "href": "https://doi.org/10.26355/eurrev_202009_22819"}, {"type": "t", "text": " PMID: "}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "32964968"}], "href": "https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32964968"}]}, {"type": "r", "ref": 2, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Hirotaka Furuke, Hirotaka Konishi, Tomohiro Arita, et al.
