MIR4750 Gene

HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name microRNA 4750
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]
Summary
{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nResearch on the inhibitor of myogenic family isoform a (I‐mfa) has revealed its critical role as a molecular switch in the regulation of calcium signaling. I‐mfa interacts directly with TRPC1 through its C-terminal domain, modulating store-operated Ca2+ channels and thereby influencing Ca2+ influx during periods of depleted intracellular Ca2+ stores. This interaction highlights a novel mechanism by which I‐mfa can fine-tune ion channel activity and potentially affect downstream cellular processes."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn the context of extracellular matrix dynamics, I‐mfa has emerged as a pivotal modulator in mesangial cells by promoting the expression of fibronectin—a key component in renal fibrosis. Under high glucose conditions, as seen in diabetic nephropathy, I‐mfa protein levels increase through reactive oxygen species-mediated mechanisms, leading to enhanced fibronectin synthesis. This suggests that aberrant regulation of I‐mfa may contribute to structural and functional alterations observed in diabetic kidney disease."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nMoreover, I‐mfa influences hematopoietic lineage commitment by regulating differentiation signals through MAPK and β-catenin/TCF/LEF pathways, thereby affecting blood cell production and function. Dysregulation of I‐mfa is linked to altered progenitor cell dynamics and has been implicated in myeloid leukemias, underscoring its role in normal and malignant hematopoiesis. In parallel, emerging evidence from circulating microRNA studies in type 2 diabetes mellitus and coronary artery disease contexts—among which MIR4750 is a candidate biomarker—suggests that such microRNAs may interact with pathways involving I‐mfa. Although MIR4750 is not directly described in these mechanistic studies, its association with cardiometabolic conditions positions it as a potential regulator of I‐mfa–dependent processes, linking altered calcium signaling, extracellular matrix remodeling, and hematopoietic differentiation to the pathogenesis of diabetic atherosclerosis."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "3"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Rong Ma, Dana Rundle, Jeanie Jacks, et al.
