MIR4767 Gene

HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name microRNA 4767
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

By “sponging” miR‑4767 (along with miR‑4707‑5p), LOC100129973 prevents miR‑4767 from repressing its target genes, Apoptosis Inhibitor 5 (API5) and BCL2 like 12 (BCL2L12), thereby allowing increased expression of these apoptosis repressors and ultimately reducing serum and fibroblast growth factor‑2 starvation‑induced apoptosis in vascular endothelial cells."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "Discussions of diabetic kidney disease (DKD) have highlighted the roles of other microRNAs—such as miR‑4756—in promoting pathogenic processes (e.g., renal tubular epithelial cell epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition and endoplasmic reticulum stress via suppression of Sestrin2), suggesting that microRNAs can profoundly influence disease progression through distinct molecular targets and signaling pathways."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "Similarly, investigations into colorectal cancer (CRC) have underscored the critical regulatory functions of long non‑coding RNAs like LINC00858, which modulate cancer progression via yet‐to‑be fully elucidated mechanisms. Although MIR4767 has not been implicated in CRC, the emerging theme across these studies is that non‑coding RNAs—including both microRNAs and lncRNAs—play diverse roles in cellular processes and disease, with miR‑4767 specifically contributing to the fine‑tuning of apoptotic responses in the vascular system."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "3"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Wei Lu, Shu Ya Huang, Le Su, et al.
