| Name | microRNA 5090 |
| Description | microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009] |

One investigation found that although diverse tumor cell lineages shared the P1A antigen, they deployed distinct strategies to thwart adoptive T‐cell therapy. While some tumors underwent antigenic drift or loss, others, like Meth A fibrosarcomas, instead induced apoptosis of P1A‐specific T cells, thereby circumventing immune attack."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n \n \nIn a complementary study, the Trap1a gene was shown to have a critical function in early T‐cell development. Using chimeric mice, it was observed that deletion of Trap1a selectively arrested T‐cell differentiation at the DN1 stage—even though early progenitor cells still expressed key markers—indicating that Trap1a (and by association MIR5090) operates as an essential, Notch‐independent regulator of the differentiation potential of hematopoietic progenitors toward the T‐cell lineage."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n \n \nTogether, these findings suggest that the gene product associated with MIR5090 plays a multifaceted role in both cancer biology and immunology. It not only modulates mechanisms of tumor immune escape through alterations in the expression or presentation of the tumor antigen P1A but also is indispensable for the proper maturation of T cells from progenitor cells. This dual functionality underscores its significance as a potential molecular bridge between tumor immunogenicity and T‐cell developmental processes."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Xue-Feng Bai, Jin-Qing Liu, Pramod S Joshi, et al.
