MIR548AR Gene

Name microRNA 548ar
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nRecent investigations into indeterminate thyroid nodules have emphasized the promise of microRNAs as diagnostic biomarkers. In one study, unique profiles of deregulated miRNAs were identified in mutation‐negative thyroid nodules, suggesting that specific miRNAs—including candidates such as MIR548AR—may help refine preoperative risk assessment by distinguishing benign from malignant lesions. Though MIR548AR was not singled out explicitly in the available summary, it belongs to the group of miRNAs that are being interrogated for their potential roles in tumor progression and cell signaling in thyroid pathology."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn a related context, another study investigated the expression patterns of multiple miRNAs in the NZBWF1 mouse model of lupus nephritis. The findings underscored the broad involvement of miRNAs in modulating immune responses and kidney inflammation in autoimmune disease. MIR548AR, as part of the expanded miRNA expression profile, could be implicated in the regulation of pathways relevant to immune cell activation and cytokine signaling, thus contributing to the pathogenesis and progression of lupus nephritis."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nA third study explored the regulatory networks governing neuronal excitation in depression through a ceRNA framework involving lncRNAs and miRNAs. Although the ceRNA network detailed in the depression model specifically highlighted the interplay between 2210408F21Rik, miR-1968-5p, and Hras, the general principles emerging from such work reinforce the notion that miRNAs (including MIR548AR) are integral to fine-tuning gene expression in neurological contexts. By influencing synaptic protein expression and neuronal activity, miRNAs like MIR548AR may represent promising targets for further investigation into the molecular underpinnings of depressive disorders."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "3"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Elisabetta Macerola, Anello Marcello Poma, Agnese Proietti, et al.
