MIR548T Gene

HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name microRNA 548t
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nAlthough none of the provided studies directly investigate MIR548T, together they describe an integrin‐associated adhesion network in which MIR548T could conceivably play a regulatory role. Several reports characterize the molecular underpinnings of focal adhesion assembly mediated by the integrin-linked kinase (ILK) complex. For example, one study detailed the conserved genomic organization and broad tissue expression of the parvin family (which, along with ILK and PINCH, forms the core IPP complex) that is essential for integrin signaling (1."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nOther investigations emphasize the tissue-specific consequences of disrupting these adhesion complexes. Loss of α-parvin in vascular smooth muscle cells leads to hypercontractility and impaired vessel remodeling, while endothelial adhesion and angiogenesis critically depend on proper integrin-mediated contacts. Similarly, ablation of ILK–parvin interactions perturbs mammary epithelial differentiation and keratinocyte attachment required for epidermal morphogenesis, collectively underscoring that precise IPP complex function is essential for vascular, epithelial, and mesenchymal cell behavior."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_fs", "start_ref": "3", "end_ref": "7"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nAdditional studies extend these findings to specialized structures; proper assembly of the IPP complex is vital for podocyte adhesion and maintenance of the glomerular filtration barrier, and for regulating chondrocyte rotation in growth plates to ensure normal long bone development. In this context, the evolutionary conservation and regulatory importance of parvins further underscore the impact of perturbations in integrin-cytoskeleton linkages. Although the specific biological function of MIR548T was not addressed in any of these reports, the collective emphasis on integrin signaling and focal adhesion integrity suggests that further exploration of MIR548T’s potential regulatory influence in these pathways is warranted."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_fs", "start_ref": "8", "end_ref": "10"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Yanqiang Yang, Lida Guo, Simone M Blattner, et al.
