MIR5691 Gene

Name microRNA 5691
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nThe abstract (1) does not report on MIR5691; instead, it focuses on a novel murine gene, rudhira, which is highly expressed in embryonic stem cells and becomes restricted to blood islands and the erythroid lineage during development. Rudhira is notably present in angiogenic precursor cells near differentiating endothelial cells, and its profile marks an early step in blood vessel and erythroid cell formation. Moreover, rudhira is nearly identical to the human BCAS3 gene, located at a breakpoint in hematological neoplasms, suggesting its potential relevance in blood-related disorders. While the study provides valuable insights into rudhira’s role in embryonic hematopoiesis and angiogenesis, it does not provide any data or functional description regarding MIR5691."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Kavitha Siva, Maneesha S Inamdar "}, {"type": "b", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Rudhira is a cytoplasmic WD40 protein expressed in mouse embryonic stem cells and during embryonic erythropoiesis."}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " "}, {"type": "i", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Gene Expr Patterns (2006)"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " DOI: "}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "10.1016/j.modgep.2005.06.002"}], "href": "https://doi.org/10.1016/j.modgep.2005.06.002"}, {"type": "t", "text": " PMID: "}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "16099728"}], "href": "https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16099728"}]}]}]}
