MIR570 Gene

HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name microRNA 570
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]
Summary
{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nMiR‐570 is emerging as an important regulator in multiple disease contexts, notably in cancer. In gastric cancer, miR‐570 normally binds to the 3′‐UTR of B7‐H1, and polymorphisms that disrupt this binding are associated with elevated B7‐H1 expression and increased cancer risk. Similarly, in hepatocellular carcinoma and colon cancer, miR‐570 has been shown to suppress tumor cell proliferation, invasion, and angiogenesis (via modulation of apoptosis‐related factors), whereas in lung and breast cancers it exerts an oncogenic role by targeting tumor‐suppressor genes such as KLF9 and by being sponged by competing endogenous RNAs, respectively. Moreover, genetic variants of miR‐570 have been linked to gallbladder carcinoma susceptibility."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_fs", "start_ref": "1", "end_ref": "7"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn addition to its roles in malignancy, miR‐570‐3p contributes to aging and metabolic regulation. In chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, oxidative stress triggers miR‐570‐3p (via p38 MAP kinase–c‐Jun signaling) to drive cellular senescence by repressing the antiaging molecule sirtuin‐1. Likewise, miR‐570 modulates xenobiotic metabolism by binding the 3′-UTR of CYP2E1 in a genotype-dependent manner, thereby influencing its protein levels in the liver."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "8"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nFurthermore, miR‐570‐3p plays a role in regulating mitochondrial functionality and extracellular matrix (ECM) integrity. In stored human platelets, miR‐570‐3p targets ATP5L, leading to decreased ATP production and mitochondrial dysfunction. In the context of emphysema induced by polystyrene microplastics, miR‐570‐3p is incorporated into a competing endogenous RNA network that regulates PTEN and contributes to ECM degradation in macrophages.
