MIR6130 Gene

HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name microRNA 6130
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nRecent studies have pointed to the pivotal role of GRB2 as a central adaptor in a wide array of receptor‐mediated signaling pathways—ranging from growth factor and cytokine receptors to immune complexes—and consequently, its levels must be tightly regulated. Emerging evidence from several investigations shows that specific microRNAs can fine‐tune GRB2 expression, thereby modulating downstream cascades such as Ras/MAPK and PI3K/AKT that govern cell growth, differentiation, and stress responses."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn similar experimental settings across diverse biological contexts—including cardiac fibrosis, neuronal autophagy following ischemic stroke, and hepatocellular carcinoma—the actions of microRNAs such as miR‐378, miR‐27a‑3p, and miR‐1271 have been shown to converge on the suppression of GRB2 expression. Their ability to bind directly or through competitive “sponge” mechanisms to influence GRB2 levels alters key cellular events, including inflammatory signaling, migratory responses, and even lineage-specific differentiation."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "3"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nBy extrapolating from these insights, MIR6130 may be posited to function in a comparable regulatory capacity. If acting analogously to the aforementioned microRNAs, MIR6130 could serve as a post‐transcriptional regulator that targets GRB2 messenger RNA, thereby attenuating its protein output. This down‐regulation would be anticipated to impact multiple downstream signaling events—including control of cell proliferation, differentiation, and stress resilience—in both development and disease. Such a role for MIR6130 would underscore a broader paradigm in which microRNAs orchestrate complex signaling networks by modulating key adaptor proteins like GRB2."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_fs", "start_ref": "1", "end_ref": "4"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Fei Sun, Yuting Zhuang, Haixia Zhu, et al.
