MIR619 Gene

HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name microRNA 619
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

In addition, patient plasma profiling in prostatic cancer revealed significantly increased levels of miR-619-5p, suggesting its potential as a circulating biomarker in oncologic contexts."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn several malignancies, miR-619-5p participates in complex regulatory axes mediated by noncoding RNAs. In glioma, the long noncoding RNA BCYRN1 functions as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) by sponging miR-619-5p, thereby releasing its target CUEDC2 and ultimately modulating the PTEN/AKT/p21 pathway to suppress tumorigenesis. In colorectal cancer, similar ceRNA mechanisms have been observed via lncRNA SBF2-AS1 and circular RNA FAT1 that sequester miR-619-5p, resulting in upregulation of oncogenic mediators such as HDAC3 and FOSL2, respectively. Moreover, in non-small cell lung cancer, miR-619-5p is notably enriched in tumor-derived exosomes where it enhances angiogenesis and metastasis by targeting RCAN1.4."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_fs", "start_ref": "3", "end_ref": "6"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nBeyond oncogenesis, miR-619-5p is implicated in reproductive system disorders; in cases of polycystic ovary syndrome, for instance, upregulation of circ_BECN1 in ovarian granulosa cells promotes cell proliferation and suppresses apoptosis by sponging miR-619-5p, leading to augmented expression of Rab5b. Although a study in pancreatic cancer focused on chemoresistance mechanisms involving lncRNA PVT1 did not directly attribute a role to miR-619-5p, its inclusion in the broader network of noncoding RNA interactions underlines the molecule's multifaceted impact on cellular behavior in diverse disease settings."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "7"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Anatoly Ivashchenko, Olga Berillo, Anna Pyrkova, et al.
