MIR6515 Gene

HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name microRNA 6515
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

These findings underscore the importance of this microRNA as a mediator linking epigenetic regulation to critical cellular pathways involved in disease pathogenesis."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn lung carcinoma models, miR-6515-3p appears to be under the epigenetic influence of the long noncoding RNA H19. Functional assays in lung cancer cell lines have demonstrated that inhibition of miR-6515-3p reduces cell proliferation and migration, suggesting that its aberrant expression may contribute to metastasis. These observations indicate that the H19/miR-6515-3p regulatory axis could be instrumental in lung cancer progression."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn parallel, exposure of bronchial epithelial cells to particulate matter (PM10) has been shown to downregulate miR-6515-5p, thereby unleashing a cascade of pro-inflammatory effects. Overexpression of miR-6515-5p suppresses the production of key cytokines such as IL-6 and IL-8 by inactivating the MAPK/ERK signaling pathway, while its inhibition exacerbates inflammatory gene expression. The data further identify CSF3 as a direct target of miR-6515-5p, positioning this microRNA as a critical negative regulator of PM10-induced inflammation."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}]}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "YouZu Xu, Jian Lin, YingYing Jin, et al.
