| HGNC Family | Non-coding RNAs |
| Name | microRNA 662 |
| Description | microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009] |

For example, several investigations have elucidated the role of WDR35 in cilia formation, intracellular trafficking, and stress‐induced signaling events. Mutations in WDR35 underlie severe skeletal ciliopathies, and its expression is tightly controlled by ROS‐dependent signaling pathways involving CaMKK/AMPK/p38 MAPK and NF‑κB activation. Moreover, structural and functional analyses indicate that WDR35 is a key component of protein complexes necessary for ciliary trafficking, highlighting an intricate interplay between vesicular transport and signaling regulation."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_fs", "start_ref": "1", "end_ref": "4"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn contrast to these protein‐centric studies, emerging evidence from cancer research has highlighted a significant role for microRNAs in modulating oncogenic processes. In particular, overexpression of miR‑662, along with miR‑192 and miR‑192*, has been shown to correlate with poor prognosis in early‑stage squamous cell lung cancer and has been implicated in the development of chemoresistance, suggesting that miR‑662 functions as an oncogenic regulator. Similarly, investigations into breast cancer metastasis further support a role for deregulated microRNA networks—including miR‑662—in facilitating metastatic dissemination, although the precise molecular mechanisms remain to be fully elucidated."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "5"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Pleasantine Mill, Paul J Lockhart, Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, et al.
