| Name | microRNA 6718 |
| Description | microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009] |

Instead, the collective research focuses on elucidating the roles of Na⁺‐driven Cl⁻/HCO₃⁻ exchangers—most notably the transporter SLC4A8 (also known as NDCBE)—in processes such as renal sodium reabsorption and neuronal intracellular pH regulation. For example, one study demonstrates that an electroneutral, thiazide‐sensitive NaCl absorption mechanism in the cortical collecting duct is mediated in large part by the coordinated action of SLC4A8 and pendrin, thereby identifying SLC4A8 as an important contributor to renal fluid homeostasis."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " Other studies extend these findings by showing that SLC4A8 localizes predominantly to presynaptic nerve endings where it regulates steady‐state pH and thereby modulates glutamate release, with further evidence obtained through developmental comparisons and molecular dynamics simulations underscoring its conserved role in cation‐dependent anion transport."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_fs", "start_ref": "2", "end_ref": "5"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn contrast, despite the comprehensive investigation into ion transport mechanisms and related signaling in renal, neuronal, and even cardiac contexts"}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "6"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ", none of the abstracts provide any insights into the expression, regulation, or functional role of MIR6718.
