MIR6760 Gene

HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name microRNA 6760
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nRecent investigations into glioma biology have revealed that non-coding RNAs play pivotal roles in tumor progression. In one study, the circRNA hsa_circ_0076931 was found to be down-regulated in glioma tissues compared with normal brain tissues, and its expression was negatively correlated with tumor histological grade. Functionally, overexpression of hsa_circ_0076931 was shown to inhibit glioma cell proliferation, migration, and invasion while promoting apoptosis. A key mechanistic finding was that hsa_circ_0076931 acts as a molecular sponge for miR-6760-3p, thereby modulating downstream gene expression involved in tumor progression, such as increased CCBE1 expression."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nMechanistically, the silencing of miR-6760-3p via binding to hsa_circ_0076931 relieves its inhibitory effect on the target gene CCBE1. This interaction suggests that miR-6760-3p normally functions to suppress CCBE1 expression, a gene implicated in cancer-related pathways. Thus, by sequestering miR-6760-3p, hsa_circ_0076931 indirectly elevates CCBE1 levels, contributing to a less aggressive glioma phenotype through modulation of gene networks essential for tumor cell survival and motility."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nThe findings from this study highlight the potential of targeting the hsa_circ_0076931/miR-6760-3p/CCBE1 regulatory axis as a novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategy in glioma. By dampening miR-6760-3p activity, hsa_circ_0076931 may serve as a protective biomarker against malignant progression, emphasizing the critical contribution of non-coding RNA networks in the pathogenesis of brain tumors."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Yanbin Ke, Shixing Su, Chuanzhi Duan, et al.
