| HGNC Family | Non-coding RNAs |
| Name | microRNA 6813 |
| Description | microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009] |

For example, one study identified RSF1 as a reader of histone H2AK119 ubiquitination (H2Aub), which is critical for maintaining a repressive nucleosome architecture at gene promoters. Although MIR6813 is not explicitly mentioned in this work, its placement among regulatory noncoding RNAs suggests that it could function in a similar pathway—perhaps by influencing chromatin remodelers or stabilizing repressed chromatin states—to modulate gene activity. Such a role would be consistent with a broader scheme where noncoding RNAs interface with epigenetic regulators to fine‐tune developmental gene expression and lineage specification."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn a complementary approach, another study explored RNA interference strategies against key oncogenic drivers, where the silencing of HBx and c-myc transcripts in hepatocellular carcinoma was achieved through shRNA expression. Although this report does not explicitly investigate MIR6813, the effective downregulation of target genes by RNA interference highlights a paradigm in which endogenous small RNAs could serve analogous tumor‐suppressive functions. If MIR6813 acts as a microRNA that regulates gene expression similarly, it might modulate oncogenic pathways by targeting transcripts involved in cell growth and survival, thereby contributing to therapeutic strategies against hepatocellular carcinoma."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Zhuo Zhang, Amanda E Jones, Wei Wu, et al.
