MIR6892 Gene

HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name microRNA 6892
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

In one investigation, FBXO22 forms a complex with KDM4A to target methylated p53 for ubiquitin‐mediated degradation, a process crucial for inducing cellular senescence and the associated secretory phenotype. This work also showed that loss of Fbxo22 in mice leads to p53 accumulation and growth retardation, underscoring its importance in regulating p53‐dependent senescence processes."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nAnother study demonstrated that FBXO22 promotes Lys‐63–linked polyubiquitination of LKB1, thereby inhibiting its kinase activity. This modification disrupts the LKB1–AMPK–mTOR signaling cascade, resulting in enhanced non–small cell lung cancer cell growth and linking high FBXO22 expression with poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma patients."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nA further investigation in prostate cancer revealed that elevated FBXO22 expression promotes bone metastasis by two mechanisms. First, FBXO22 in macrophages facilitates a switch to an M2‐polarized state, which supports tumor progression. Second, it degrades the transcription factor KLF4, leading to increased transcription of nerve growth factor (NGF) and activation of the NGF/tropomyosin receptor kinase A pathway, thereby promoting cancer cell activity and osteogenic lesions."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "3"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIt is important to note that none of these abstracts provide data on MIR6892; rather, they collectively highlight the diverse molecular functions of FBXO22.
