MIR8082 Gene

HGNC Family Non-coding RNAs
Name microRNA 8082
Description microRNAs (miRNAs) are short (20-24 nt) non-coding RNAs that are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of mRNAs. miRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs) that can be either protein-coding or non-coding. The primary transcript is cleaved by the Drosha ribonuclease III enzyme to produce an approximately 70-nt stem-loop precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA), which is further cleaved by the cytoplasmic Dicer ribonuclease to generate the mature miRNA and antisense miRNA star (miRNA*) products. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which recognizes target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing with the miRNA and most commonly results in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA. The RefSeq represents the predicted microRNA stem-loop. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]
Summary
{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn osteoarthritis, microRNA‐8082 (miR‐8082) functions as a key regulatory mediator of chondrocyte inflammation. Elevated levels of miR‐8082, as observed in patients with OA, are associated with decreased expression of both the long noncoding RNA NAV2‐AS5 and TNFAIP3 interacting protein 2 (TNIP2). Mechanistic studies in LPS-treated chondrocytes have shown that NAV2‐AS5 acts as a molecular sponge for miR‐8082, thereby limiting miR‐8082’s inhibitory impact on TNIP2. In turn, inhibition of miR‐8082 leads to enhanced cell proliferation, improved cell cycle progression, reduced apoptosis, and modulation of inflammatory cytokine release. Thus, miR‐8082 appears to exacerbate the inflammatory processes in chondrocytes by suppressing TNIP2, while its targeted inhibition, either directly or via NAV2‐AS5 overexpression, alleviates these pathological changes in OA."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Pu Wang, Yuhao Wang, Baoan Ma "}, {"type": "b", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Long noncoding RNA "}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "i"}], "href": "i"}, {"type": "t", "text": "NAV2-AS5"}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "/i"}], "href": "/i"}, {"type": "t", "text": " relieves chondrocyte inflammation by targeting miR-8082/"}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "i"}], "href": "i"}, {"type": "t", "text": "TNIP2"}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "/i"}], "href": "/i"}, {"type": "t", "text": " in osteoarthritis."}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " "}, {"type": "i", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Cell Cycle (2023)"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " DOI: "}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "10.1080/15384101.2022.2154554"}], "href": "https://doi.org/10.1080/15384101.2022.2154554"}, {"type": "t", "text": " PMID: "}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "36503346"}], "href": "https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36503346"}]}]}]}
