NRSN2-AS1 Gene

Name NRSN2 antisense RNA 1
Summary
{"type": "root", "children": [{"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nRecent investigations have identified the long non‐coding RNA NRSN2‑AS1 as an oncogenic factor in ovarian cancer. In one study, NRSN2‑AS1 was found to be highly expressed in ovarian cancer cells and tissues compared with normal ovarian counterparts. Functional assays revealed that suppression of NRSN2‑AS1 diminished malignant behaviors, including reduced cell proliferation and tumor growth. Mechanistic analysis demonstrated that NRSN2‑AS1 acts as a sponge for miR‑744‑5p, thereby modulating expression of PRKX and leading to activation of the Wnt/β‑catenin signaling pathway—a key driver of tumor progression."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "1"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nComplementary evidence in ovarian cancer further supports the pro‐tumorigenic role of NRSN2‑AS1. Another investigation showed that NRSN2‑AS1 is over‑expressed in ovarian cancer tissues, where it promotes cell proliferation and metastasis both in vitro and in vivo. This study revealed that NRSN2‑AS1 stabilizes protein tyrosine kinase 2 (PTK2) by repressing MG‑53–mediated ubiquitination and degradation, thereby activating the β‑catenin pathway. The NRSN2‑AS1/PTK2/β‑catenin signaling axis was validated as a key molecular mechanism fueling ovarian cancer progression."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "2"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "t", "text": "\n\n"}, {"type": "p", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "\nIn addition to its role in ovarian cancer, NRSN2‑AS1 has been implicated in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Clinical data indicate that NRSN2‑AS1 is up‑regulated in ESCC tissues and correlates with poorer patient survival. Mechanistic studies revealed that NRSN2‑AS1 is transcriptionally activated by SOX2 and functions by binding to phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1). By inhibiting PGK1 ubiquitination, NRSN2‑AS1 enhances PGK1 protein levels, which in turn promotes cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and epithelial–mesenchymal transition. These findings suggest that NRSN2‑AS1 may serve as a potential diagnostic biomarker or therapeutic target in ESCC."}, {"type": "fg", "children": [{"type": "fg_f", "ref": "3"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": ""}]}, {"type": "rg", "children": [{"type": "r", "ref": 1, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Qian Chen, Jia Xie, Yisi Yang "}, {"type": "b", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Long non-coding RNA NRSN2-AS1 facilitates tumorigenesis and progression of ovarian cancer via miR-744-5p/PRKX axis."}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " "}, {"type": "i", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Biol Reprod (2022)"}]}, {"type": "t", "text": " DOI: "}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "10.1093/biolre/ioab212"}], "href": "https://doi.org/10.1093/biolre/ioab212"}, {"type": "t", "text": " PMID: "}, {"type": "a", "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "34791059"}], "href": "https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34791059"}]}, {"type": "r", "ref": 2, "children": [{"type": "t", "text": "Yi-Bo Wu, Shen-Yi Li, Jin-Yan Liu, et al.
