In glioma studies, its expression is significantly lower in glioblastoma (GBM) compared to low‐grade glioma samples, suggesting that its downregulation may be linked to the progression to a more malignant state. Detailed single nuclei RNA sequencing analysis demonstrated that OBI1‐AS1 distinguishes astrocytes with remarkable specificity (AUC = 0.99), outperforming established markers such as GFAP and S100B. Complementary bioinformatics and epigenomic investigations shed light on its potential functional roles in synaptic signal transduction and glutamatergic signaling pathways. Furthermore, analyses integrating Hi-C, methylation, and ChIP-Seq data indicate that the methylation state of a critical CTCF binding site is central to regulating OBI1‐AS1 expression by influencing local chromatin interactions.
